Introducing LIVE-ed

LIVE –ed, through the use of Webex, the leader in video conferencing technology, brings you a total classroom experience complete with document and screen sharing as well as live video and audio streaming. You can even raise your hand to ask a question or make a comment.  It’s all LIVE and from the comfort of your own home.  You get the feeling of being inside a classroom without needing to worry about traveling to and from school.

 

How do we do it?

With LIVE –ed you still have the feeling of being in a classroom, but instead of having an instructor actually standing in front of you while they lecture, they present the information to you delivered via an online environment. When you register for a LIVE-ed course you’ll receive an e-mail with simple instructions on how to enter one of our online classrooms. Once you’re in the class you’ll actually see the instructor in a video window as well as have your own work space where the instructor can “Share Their Desktop” computer screen with you and present material in an online presentation.

 

With Webex technology, it’s easy to have the complete traditional classroom experience, while sitting in the comfort of your own home.  Webex enables the student to ask a question in many different ways.  With The “Raise Your Hand”, the instructor instantly sees on his screen that you have a question and calls on you. It’s as close to feeling like being in a real classroom without having to actually be in one.

With the “Share My Desktop” option, when prompted by the instructor, you can instantly share the work you have on your screen with the instructor or the entire class.  The instructor, and if applicable, e the rest of the class, can then provide you with the constructive input that you need.

In a LIVE-ed class, you can send a private chat message to the instructor and they can then forward their answer directly to you.

What’s great about LIVE-ed classes is that you can choose to participate  as much or as little as you like. It’s up to you!

Finally, by learning via video conferencing, LIVE-ed will be able to offer complete course archiving. This means that if a class is missed, or if the class needs to be reviewed, the entire online class session, is available 24 hours a day for convenient viewing.

 

What do you need to get started?

For the best classroom experience we recommend that students have a web-camera, microphone and speakers for the computer, in order to maximize the classroom feeling, and fully interact with the teacher and the other students. However, even if there are only speakers or just a microphone without any additional video or audio equipment, we make sure that you can still be part of the class.  Through our unique private chatting feature LIVE-ed lets you ask your instructor questions through the work space.
