Course Topics Include:

Different forms of Modern Information Graphics

In order to cater to the specific clients needs, Graphic Designers need to know how to design in many types of media.  In the first part of this course, we will be discussing poster design, flyer design, and brochure design.  This will enable the student to be able to adapt to the clients needs and provide for them the design in the media that they need.  We will also learn about grid systems, what they are, and how to use them.

Graphic Symbols (Logo & Pictogram)

In this section of the class, we will learn about logo design and pictogram.  For logo design, we will learn about the form and function of a logo, its symbolism, and the significance of shape and form.   In the pictogram section of the course, we will learn what it’s meaning is, and what difference it makes towards logos.   We will delve into the important aspects in designing pictograms, and the basics about signaling systems.

Advanced approaches to Advertising

Learning how to take a clients idea, business, and concepts from words to an paper,  can be a very complicated process.  Here we will learn how  to fully understand what the clients needs are in an advertisement, and then how to fully implement those needs into an effective ad.  We learn many creative techniques to use, in order to simplify the process both for you and the client.

Light and Shadow

Lastly, the course will cover the basics about light and shadow.  We will learn the basics about perspective and how to implement light and shadow into the student’s projects.
